Is the booze tide turning?

I have to admit I was surprised to see this headline, that as a population the UK are drinking less, particularly when the largest decrease is in the younger generation. That has to be good news. Some things never change though and the graph showing that alcohol consumption goes up with income is quite profound. I guess we think we deserve a drink if we have work pressures or continually feel 'stressed'. As always, it's those of us who can't stop at one who have to make the biggest changes to stay well. Happy reading.

  1. It is good news! I think Facebook and other social media play a part in this too, who wants a drunken embarrassing night all over Facebook for everyone to see, over and over again!!! The younger generation seem more bothered about looking selfie perfect!!!

I have to admit its good knowing you will look the same at the end of the night out as you did at the beginning of the night now I'm sober, and not like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards!!!

I just hope and pray my 2 daughters dont have the same drinking habits as I did, I know they are so proud of me that I have stopped and hopefully i can be a positive influence and example to them now xxxx

  6. Poisoning is the leading cause of death from injury in 30 states. Drug overdose is the main reason. If you have to drink alcohol, make it wine spritzers to but calories and drunk eating, or low cal vodka soda or lite beer.

  7. Hii
Thank you for the informative article. The phrase "the booze tide turning" is often used metaphorically to indicate a shift or change in the trends or attitudes related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
